Would you want to see more road courses on the NASCAR schedule?

I personally think so. At least add 2 more road courses in replacement of some of the cookie cutters. Im sure though other people’s opinions will be different, so I want to hear your answers.

Yeah. I like the road courses.

  2. Michael says:

No. In my opinion all the road courses should be dropped. I don’t watch them with any interest. Turning right is for formula cars and go-karts. But I would strongly support having at least two races on half mile dirt tracks. To make it worthwhile to have an additional car for dirt there should be double points awarded for the dirt tracks.

  3. CarlEdwardsfan says:

no. the road races can be boring sometimes.

  4. crunch says:

NO! Personally, I believe the primary reason there are still races on road courses are because ISC owns The Glen and Infineon (Sears Point) is owned by SMC. That, is the France Family and Bruton Smith.

They are holding those dates for new tracks that most certainly will be built in the future.

I like road races OK, but they limit the action too much. No 3-wide racing is possible and there are 1 maybe 2 places on a road course where a pass can be made cleanly.

If you have just enough speed and protect the line, you can’t get passed, even if the other cars are faster unless you move them out of the way.

With the COT coming on line, a car the winner at Bristol said “won’t turn”, at a track with 36 degree banking, how are they going to do on a reverse angle turn (where the outside falls away) on a road course? The answer is of course, drive through the corner very, very slowly! YAWN.

NASCARS road race dates will disappear from the schedule, sooner or later.

you know what i think… NASCAR is boring… there’s no excitement in running in ovals…

    schumacher agrees with that.. :D

  6. shooter says:

I like them, too. For one,I like hearing the old school stockcar crowd complain about the “RINGERS”.I don’t think any of the RINGERS have won one yet,but Boris Said,Ron Fellows and Scott Pruett are fun to watch.(and WALLY…can’t forget about WALLY)

I am in total agreement. Road courses should be a bigger part of the schedule than they currently are. It is on tracks like road courses where the drivers skills are as much or more important than the engineers putting together the cars. We associate more with the driver than any other person on the teams, so shouldn’t their true skills be demonstrated on the track?

Yes, road courses are not the best spectator friendly race tracks and that’s the main reason we don’t see more of them. But, it is racing in as pure a form as it can get. NASCAR started racing on the dirt in Daytona, what’s wrong with a road course for the drivers. If the drivers cannot handle it, then they need to go to a different series.

  8. coffinfart says:

I like them but 2 is enough

  9. ram_this911 says:

I think not. Personally, I think the road courses are boring and I rarely watch them

  10. jaynarie says:

No. Stock cars were not built for road courses. If I wanted to watch more road courses, I’d watch the Grand Am series. The two they already have is fine. There fun, and its a nice break, but no more.

  11. gibbs_20_11 says:

leave it the way it is.

  12. buckeyescri says:

No but I do think atleast 1 of them needs to be a race in the CHASE. I mean you need to be good or atleast decent at ALL tracks to be a champion so why not include.

  13. NASCAR GURU says:

I’d love to see more races @ the road courses! That is some of the most exciting action all year next to Short Tracks and closely tied w/ SuperSpeedways. I mean, the skill it takes to wheel around those road courses in those big, heavy as* cars is AMAZING. Shifting 15 times a lap or more.. It’s incredible I think. True skill comes out on road courses… and I think a couple more dates would be right up NASCARS alley. If we can’t find a place in the states to run, off to Mexico City and Canada would be fine w/ me. Sure I’d prefer them to be in the states so the reality of me getting to go is about 100% more then if they were out of the country. But if going to Mexico, and Canada are the only way to get more road courses because NASCAR wants to diversify.. Then GO FOR IT. More Road Courses in 08′ would be GREAT, and 1 of them needs to be in the CHASE. I’d say Watkins Glen !

  14. mlhldl78 says:

absolutley not. i hate road course

  15. Ironball says:

A NASCAR wasn’t built to go right.

  16. B-RAD says:

I would love more road courses. To me Road courses test the skill of the driver more. They still have to have a good car, but a believe a more skilled driver shows better on road courses.

  17. Charley Kahne says:

No,i dont think so at all.I mean,i like the road course races but i dont think that there should be anymore then 2 in the nascar schedule.

  18. thirdjeff says:

No, not really. I don’t think they are as fun to watch.

  19. Matt M says:

I love the road course races and would add a few more. The change in playing field shows which drivers are versatile, gives some of the lesser known teams a chance to be in the spotlight and brings racing to areas (specifically western NY for Warkins Glen) and California (sonoma) that would not be exposed to races that are within a few hours drive. I admit that the spectators at a road course usually only get a very good view of a small part of the track but that can be partially fixed by the use of jumbotrons like in other forms of racing.

  20. jsmalom says:

They need to take the two out they already have. The field pretty much finishes where they start. It is boring and not worth the money.

  21. sparkles9 says:

I love racing, but the road courses are my least favorite. I tend to get bored watching them. So, nope I don’t think there should be anymore added :)

  22. laylie says:

I would love to see more road courses. Two more would be great.

  23. CC says:

NO, they are not fun to watch!

  24. 90_48 says:

If they would a 1 or 2 that would be cool. I think NASCAR should put a road course in the chase to make it more of a challenge.

  25. junior_fan says:

    NO.
    It’s NASCAR not F1
