What is the difference between Busch series and Cup series in Nascar?

I want to buy Nascar tix for a friend but I have no idea which one is preferable. We have Busch Dollar General 300 and Bank of America Cup 500 in Charlotte, NC. Which one would be what he wants?

There’s 2 main differences in the car. The size of the rear spoiler and the size of the carburetor. The Busch cars don’t produce as much horse power and therefore don’t go quite as fast.

And the Busch series doesn’t have the “chase” system for the end of the year championship. If you look at what the Busch drivers earn compared to the cup drivers, there’s a big difference there also.

normally tickets come in blocks. You will likely get tickets for both. The Cup series is the premier division

If you are getting tickets for just one day’s events you DEFINITELY want to get them for the Nextel Cup race. Either race would be fun and exciting but the Busch Series will not have all the big name drivers that your husband would know. If you wanted to get any other tickets the qualifying and practice today would be good to check out. Friday is the day to try and get pit passes. The drivers are a little more accessible on Friday.

Like they said, the main difference is the weight of the car and size of the engine. Obviously beginning in 2008 they will run different cars in Cup than in the Busch Series.

As for buying tickets at Lowes Motor Speedway, If you could hold off for almost a year, the All-Star event was by far the best I’ve attended there. The Busch races are just as exciting as the Cup races and much easier on the pocket. You also have a chance of getting better tickets for the Busch race than the Cup race. With Cup you have the more talented drivers and teams, though out of 8 races I’ve seen there the most eciting was last fall’s Busch race with green white checkered, and the two leaders spinning each other on the last lap!!! Make sure you are at least 20 rows up or you wont be able to see but what is right in fron of you. Don’t shell out extra bucks for VIP seating either, been there and done that and it’s not worth it. If you choose the Busch race you can also get garage passes and usually have a chance to meet some of the drivers during the Cup practice. I will say show up to the race hours, and I mean hours early at Charlotte because there is a ton of stuff to do with merchandise trailers, sponsor tents, contests, free giveaways, tons of vendors with discounted merch, and always a chance that drivers may be out signing autographs. LMS definately has the best fan fare so enjoy it!!!

If only the so-called Buschwackers were no longer in Busch Series, then it would be different.
