You must start at your local dirt or asphalt race track. Build yourself a good racing resume. Alot of seat time. Don’t limit yourself to one track try and race on both small and larger tracks. I race on 3/8 and 1/2 mile dirt tracks. I started on a little 1/4mile track personally I think this is the way to go It teaches you car control tight racing. Don’t give up you have to be determined to make it . I’ am from MO I can remember when CARL EDWARDS was handing out business cards at the track saying who he was. A friend of mine actually tuned him down one night( to drive his car)
True story double xx speedway California Mo. Anyhow the better you become the more people will notice you. Good luck!!!!!!!!
race at your local track, get an engineering degree from college, and hopefully you could get noticed by a big company like RCR, HMS, or JGR. Also you should be prepared with a lot of wins on your resume. Any team won’t look at you if you aren’t a winner.
Its not really what you know, its who you know, and your personality now days. It used to be about being a great race car driver; but now its about having a marketable image and being a spokesman. Theres no doubt that you still have to be a good driver…but you have to kiss a lot of ass and get the right breaks. But to do it you would more than likely start at local tracks win some races, try to attract sponsers to give you money, attract teams in other series to give you a shot, and work your way up the ladder. Its very, very, difficult…Unless you have tons of money, know a team owner, or your daddy was a famous race car driver.
