(closed captioning) Kind of a Nascar history lesson here. This video is all about the major crashes that have changed the safety in Nascar to what it’s become today.

Really great job. I think the history of nascar is very interesting as they have gotten the racing so safe and competitive that its really the most interesting and exciting form of racing there is. Its great to know what events precipitated the changes.

It still boggles my mind that it took somebody dying for officials and drivers to figure out that, hey maybe we dont need to let these guys go driving like bats out of hell down pit row where there are dozens upon dozens of people standing and working and running around. Not only did it take somebody getting killed, but it was well into the modern era when it happened. Surely, SOMEBODY thought of that possibility years if not decades before the tragedy.

AMAZING job on this video. This is a legit video, very very professional. One of the best presentation of some of the most memorable moments ever seen in NASCAR.

  21. airfresno says:

And now they finally got rid of the rear wing on the CoT and went back to the spoiler to keep the cars on the ground even more.

  22. Willbrse says:

Amazing video! For me NASCAR has the safer race car in all the world since they added the COT. Many people will say “nah, F1 is safer” but I don’t agree cuz the head of the driver is “out” of the car, I know this is how an open-wheel car is but look @ 2009 Felipe Massa (F1) and Henry Surtees (F2 – this one fatal crash) accidents.
I also worry about Indy cars, the Lola car for 2012 looks nice and very safe.
Anyway, any race league is dangerous, wel… life is dangerous ^^
    I <3 this, I <3 NASCAR!

  23. brockmemorial05 says:

I’m surprised window nets weren’t added after Joe Weatherly’s fatal crash in 1964 because I saw a clip saying that if window nets were there, he would’ve survived the crash

  24. DsturbedFan728 says:

actually McDowell hit the wall at like 189 mph

  25. bandit269u says:

I want to see them run 250 mph.
