Everybody who loves sports usually pick up his favorite team from his favorite sports. Then they love to acquire sports fan products for the team that they support. Sometimes people choose their favorite teams based on their origin or location. For example, people who reside in Boston support the baseball team Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins in ice hockey, and Boston Celtics for basketball. Chicago sports fans support the Chicago Bulls fervently and go out of the way to exhibit their support.

However, it is worth mentioning that there are many other reasons to support a specific team, such as a team that the parents support or the one with a good winning streak or the one with very good sponsors. There are many university teams as well that play with NCAA, and people usually support their own colleges and universities. But when it comes to cheering up your favorite player, different people choose different ways. One such way is to go for fan sports gear.

Sports Fan Products

People who love and support a specific sports team usually like to buy sports products gear related to the team. There are so many sports fan gear for the fans to choose from. The most popular item that fans choose to go for is clothing items, such as jackets, shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and jerseys.

Jerseys, in particular, are extremely popular because people feel proud when they wear the name of their favorite player on the back of their jerseys. People wear these items on and off but are exceptionally enthusiastic about wearing them when they go to watch them play in the stadium. The other items in the fan sports gear include products for home, such as wall hangings, carpets, clocks, rugs, and pictures. Usually items for cars, such as license plates, air fresheners, floor mats, and window accents, are also available that people go for. There is a type of fan sports gear that people can take along to games with them, such as the foam fingers, signs, pennants, and small drinking mugs with the team logos. The sports fan products also include signed balls, jerseys, pictures and plaques, and trophies.

Fan Attic Sports

People are most fervent and excited during the tournament season. The MLB World Series and the NFL super bowl are one of the biggest events that work up the fans. The sports fan attic is a shop that provides sports items for dedicated fans. They have novelty items and apparels for NFL, MLB, NVAA, NBA, NHL, and NASCAR. Fans show their support for their teams by wearing sweatshirts and jerseys of their favorite teams. For some of the colleges and universities, bags and backpacks are also available to support the college teams.

Sports fans show their love and support for their favorite teams by buying sports products and showing pride in their team by wearing and taking them to the games. The fan sports gear is available easily, and many people are seen wearing sweat shirts, jerseys, and sporting items, such as like bubble heads and No.1 Foam fingers, to show team spirit.

101 Reasons To Love Atlanta Sports

SEC Championship Game – Every year, two of the top teams in the nation battle it out in The Dome

2013 – The Men’s Final Four returns to The Dome

Phil Niekro – The game’s greatest knuckleballer pitched 20 season in Atlanta of his 318 win career

Will Bynum – His late layup against Oklahoma State in the 2004 Final Four put Tech in the Title Game

Maddux, Smoltz, & Glavine – I only wish they had all retired at the same time so they could all go into the Hall of Fame in the same year, as Braves

Terrell Davis – A mediocre career at UGA led to a very good pro career, along with another UGA alum being selected MVP of the Super Bowl

Jamal Crawford – if he’s not the NBA’s best Sixth Man, then who is?

Larry Munson – Many Dawg fans grew up & grew old listening to this man make the greatest calls in UGA history

Jake Scott – The first of three Super Bowl MVPs from the University of Georgia, he won as a Safety for the Dolphins

Joe Johnson – Our superstar, the glue that holds the team together and wins them games

Jamal Anderson – His 410 carries carried the Falcons to their lone Super Bowl (Now if we can just find a replacement for Jamaal (the DT)

1991 Braves Season – From the worst record in baseball in 1990 to the World Series in 1991, this season brought life back to baseball in Atlanta

Fall Saturdays – Whether in Atlanta or Athens, you’re having a good time

The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party – Even if the Dawgs lose, it’s always fun to be around friends & enjoy the view of mullets & jean shorts

1996 Olympics – The games put Atlanta on the international map, the bombing left an ugly scar on an otherwise spectacular event

Billy Knight – Rick Sund is reaping what he sowed

Brian Van Gorder – His work in Athens made UGA defenses feared; here’s hoping that same magic works 75 miles west

Hines Ward – more useful than a Swiss Army knife at Georgia, he is now making Dawg fans proud as a Super Bowl MVP wide receiver (the university’s third)

Ilya Kovalchuk – A player that needs to get paid, and then built around

Curtis Lofton – After only his second year in the league, he’s already the leader of the Falcons defense

1995 – Finally, the Braves bring a World Championship to Atlanta, the city’s first & still only

Coke – It’s the only soda any of the venue’s sells, and it goes great with whatever is in your flask

Tailgating – A competition in the South as much as it is a tradition

$10 – Excepting the Falcons, you can go see every pro team in town for this price

Philips Arena – One of the best multi-use facilities of its size in the world

Lewis Grizzard – Comedically & poetically put southern sports, and life, into perspective

Mike Woodson – Big game woes aside, his Hawks teams have won more games than the year before since his arrival. They gave him clay & told him to build a mansion.

Evander Holyfield – The only 4-Time Heavyweight Champion in history

Southern Girls – Whether tailgating or in the game, always a sight to behold

Andruw Jones – He had his lapses, but overall, he gave Braves fans a great decade

Paul Hewitt – Took Tech to the title game in 2004, & has the team rising this year

Leo Mazzone – As much responsible for the dominance of the 1990s as Cox & Scheurholz

Evander Kane – If this prospect can live up to expectations & Kovalchuk extends, the Thrashers could start to make some noise in the NHL

Minnesota – They hate us for the 1998 NFC Championship game, we hate them for KENT HRBEK (our hatred is more substantiated)

Ted Turner – “The Mouth of the South” made the Braves “America’s Team”

Peachtree Road Race – 55,000 people running 10K on the 4th of July, all while I’m doing pretty much the exact opposite just a few blocks away

Tony Gonzalez – One of the biggest reasons the Falcons broke that notorious streak

Mark Fox – In his short time in Athens, he has given Dawg basketball fans something to look forward to

Bill Elliott – Voted NASCAR’s most popular driver 16 times, a record

Vince Dooley – Won the National Championship in 1980, turned out to be a pretty good Athletics Director as well

Jason Heyward & Tommy Hanson – Braves fans are hoping these two young prospects can make Cox’s last season a good one

Sundiata Gaines – Credit for the SEC Tournament in 2008 has to go to someone, and that definitely ain’t Dennis Felton, plus, what a tournament he had

UGA’s I-VII – All “Damn Good Dawgs”

Todd Grantham – Bringing the 3-4 with him to Athens, Dawg faithful are just happy for a change

Jackie Robinson – Born in Cairo, every black athlete in the nation owes him for putting up with unimaginable racist attitudes of the day

Dwight Howard – One of the best big men in the Association, played high school ball in Atlanta, unfortunately got away, just to stay in our division

John Heisman – Not only did he coach Tech to a national title (and a 222-0 victory over Cumberland College), he was also Athletic Director of the Atlanta Athletic Club

Bobby Cremins – Made Tech basketball relevant

Vernon Forrest – Former champion in both the Welterweight & Light Middleweight classes

Back-to-Back Winning Seasons – The Falcons finally broke one of the most embarrassing streaks in sports in 2009, plus, the Hawks are looking to make it two years in a row this year (Fingers crossed on the Braves)

Dan Reeves – Born in Rome, he led the Falcons to their only Super Bowl appearance in 1999

Arthur Blank – Finally an owner in Atlanta who realizes that in sports, you throw money at the problem

Buck Belue to Lindsay Scott – I listen to this call a thousand times on the way down to The Cocktail Party, then another thousand before the game.

Bobby Jones – Tech graduate, also one of golf’s greats & one of Georgia’s most well known residents ever

Atlanta Spirit – Nine Businessmen trying to turn around the Thrashers & continue to build the Hawks

Melanie Oudin – Marietta native is now the Sweetheart of Women’s Tennis

Dominique Wilkins – He was so good, they nicknamed Philips Arena after him

Hank Aaron – The all-time homerun leader in the SFMLB (Steroid Free), also one of the class acts in all of sports & a great ambassador for the sport of baseball

Suzanne Yoculan – still kinda hot, not to mention 16 SEC titles & 10 National Titles (5 of those consecutively)

Roddy White – Back-to-Back-to-Back 1000 yard receiving seasons, now Back-to-Back Pro Bowler

Chick-Fil-A – They put together an exciting season opening game & bowl game, both pitting the SEC against the ACC

Mike Bibby – His leadership at Point Guard has been underrated

“Neon” Deion Sanders – Two sport athlete that played for the Falcons & the Braves (also, he almost committed to UGA)

Detroit Lions – Both Tech & UGA fans have a reason to cheer for this downtrodden franchise

Paul Johnson – Making Tech football relevant again….even a little scary

Zaza Pachulia – He loves Atlanta & Atlanta loves him, his antics against Boston in the 2008 playoffs gave the team & the fans the fire they needed down the stretch in a tough series

The Braves Farm System – They’ve always got a lot of young talent in the farm system, which is consistently ranked among the best in baseball

1991 World Series – We lost due to Kent Hrbek’s shenanigans, but this series is still viewed as one of the greatest of all time

The Saturday After Thanksgiving – Clean Old-Fashioned Hate

Herschel Walker – If he stayed for his senior year, he is almost undoubtedly the greatest college player of all time

Six Cy Youngs – Two for Glavine (1991 & 1992); Three for Maddux (1993-1995); & One to Smoltz (1996)

2008 SEC Tournament – Despite the lowest seed in the east & a tornado, the Dawgs became the Cinderella team of the entire post-season

Bruce Benedict – Hearing his name announced coming to the plate brings back childhood memories, memories of Braves losses, but still sentimental none-the-less

Josh Smith – Another homegrown basketball prodigy, this one stayed at home & his exciting plays get the Arena jumping

The Davids (Greene & Pollack) – Childhood friends who made the early 2000s very exciting for Dawg fans

Mike Smith – Seeing him ready to go toe-to-toe with Deangelo Hall now means the team & entire city have his back

Pro Wrestling (aka Wrasslin) – The Royal Rumble just came to town & the area is home to many current & former professional wrestlers

Dale Murphy – One of the few bright spots in an other wise horrible decade, to long-time Braves fans, he’s a Hall of Famer for sure

Bill Curry – Former Tech head coach is bringing football to Georgia State

Drafting Michael Vick – He electrified the entire city & made it cool to be a Falcon’s fan

Michael Vick Leaving – His departure divides the city to this day, but it opened the team up to draft a QB willing to put in the work to make this team a contender year-in & year-out

Michael Turner – Despite an injury late in the year, he averaged more yards per carry & less carries per game, hopefully meaning he’s well rested for 2010

Matt Ryan – If projections are correct, Falcons fans are in for a good decade

College Football Hall of Fame – Does not belong anywhere else than the capital of the New South, where college football is king

John Scheurholz – 14 pennants in a row doesn’t happen without him at the helm

Thomas Dimitroff – After two years on the job, he’s kind of the wunderkind of football Gms

Jeff Teague – One day, he’ll be taking over for Bibby & leading the team

Ty Cobb – One of the greatest baseball players of his time, history has proven “The Georgia Peach” to be any of a combination of four-letter words, but still one of the greatest to ever play the game

Mark Richt – The program has slid the past two years, but the 2000s were a National Championship short of being the best Bulldawg decade ever

Tomahawk Chop – Picture it, Atlanta, 1992: A close game in the ninth inning, Lemke’s at bat, & Fulton County’s rockin’ to the Tomahawk Chop, I don’t know about you, but I just got chills

Spud Webb – He was very small for an NBA player, but boy could he dunk

Sanford Stadium – Nowhere in the state rocks like Sanford does every Saturday, in fact, few places in the nation can compare

Recruiting – All the athletes UGA & Tech need for football & basketball can be found right here

World Cup – The Dome is being considered to host some matches if the US hosts the Cup in either 2018 or 2022 (if we don’t have a new stadium by then)

Sid Slide – If I need to say more I’m surprised you read this far on the list

Travis Leslie – His penchant for big dunks makes Stegeman a harder place to go play

The Varsity – Where else are you gonna go for a grease fix before or after a game

Bobby Cox – Sure the Braves could’ve won another World Series or two, but they also could’ve won one less

Al Groh – Coming to town to fix up a very suspect defense that held the Yellow Jackets back from being something really special last year

100. Warrick Dunn – One of the most beloved sports figures in Atlanta history because of hischaritable works, as well as contributions on the field, it’s good to know such a great guy is now part of the group that owns the Falcons

101. Next Year – What we seem to always be waiting for & the battle cry of the eternal optimist

What, in the name of Richard Petty, is happening to my NASCAR? I want to fall in love again. I want to get that feeling back-like an old relationship that fizzled and you’re still trying to figure out the classic WWW question…What Went Wrong? Let’s go back to the good old days-the year 2001.

NASCAR was popular but only to a certain demographic-the good old boys of the South. Dale Earnhardt Sr. died in the first race of 2001-the Daytona 500. Ironically, his death struck a chord with fans and non-fans alike;suddenly NASCAR reached a new level and elevated the sport. Dale Earnhardt Jr. became the icon apparent after that tragic day, not by choice but by birthright. This unfortunate moment in time by virtue of one tragic moment put NASCAR in primetime ratings territory.

With this new found success came corporate money and lots of it. Suddenly race teams became super-teams, leaving the less fortunate behind. Those owners that already had a super-star racer could afford to add to their stable of studs. Jeff Gordon spawned Jimmie Johnson, Rusty Wallace spawned Kurt Busch, Mark Martin spawned Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards etc. etc. All of the sudden, young drivers became the stars, leaving Dale Jarrett, Ricky Rudd, Sterling Marlin, Terry Labonte, Bobby Labonte and Kenny Schrader behind… and insignificant. The very men that carried the momentum left by Cale Yarborough and Donnie Allison in the infamous 1979 Daytona 500 fist fight on CBS(The first Nascar race nationally televised in it’s entirety). In this article I gave you a breakdown of what brought us to the NASCAR we know and love at this point in time. In Part 2, I will speak and offer comments on why NASCAR will dwindle in attendance and T.V. ratings in the future, unless things change significantly.

Once, just once, I would like to see Kyle Petty win a race in NASCAR…or finish in the top 5 or the top 10. Heck, 15th place would be something to see. Petty, Bobby Labonte, Elliot Sadler, Michael Waltrip or anyone outside the top 20 in standings have no chance of being so lucky…or consistent. Today, in NASCAR, your charisma, charm and looks dictate how well you will perform throughout the season.

I have a theory; if you have 2 of the 3 characteristics, you will have a much better opportunity of getting a ride on one of the top tier teams. Top 20 driver, pretty much guaranteed. The other drivers on the cusp or borderline of these traits get a drive on the remainder of teams or the Nationwide Series…the others with talent…well, you can tune into the Craftsman Truck Series. A wealthy Sprint Cup team and it’s sponsors(multi-billion dollar corporations) want the best drivers who can represent their particular brand. It’s no coincidence that the Sprint Cuppers look like Hollywood “A” list celebrities and the Truck Series drivers look like…well, everyday, average people.

The squeaky clean Sprint Cup Series is in danger of alienating its core fans by offering a product that used to be competitive and exciting into predictable and dull. The Truck Series, which has not been affected as much by big money, has become the predominantly more competitive and captivating series. This is Sprint Cup racing at it’s peak excitement years, 10-15 years ago. Any one of these drivers has a legitimate chance of winning and this, more than anything, is why we attend or tune into a race or any sporting event in the first place…the outcome is not a guarantee or lock. Sprint Cup is in danger of becoming too predictable…the top 12 drivers have an 80% chance of winning a race. To paint a better picture, if you were betting on NFL games and guaranteed these odds, you would be able to buy your own NASCAR team in a few years.

Formula 1, considered to be the highest tier of auto racing, has for decades been the highest tier of materialism and excess. The product is secondary. North American race fans have always put a premium on quality of product…the NASCAR product is in danger of losing its base fans because the product has become secondary. Here’s what must change or the NASCAR fans interest and patience will slowly show with wavering attendance and television ratings.

(1) RACE TRACKS MUST BECOME MORE COMPETITIVE: Daytona, Talladega and Bristol give the fans the most competitive and exciting races for your dollar. These six races in a 36 race season allow us to watch close bumper to bumper racing with the potential of a caution at any moment. These three tracks exhibit one common characteristic…deep banking on the turns thus creating high speed action and close racing…and yes accidents. The appeal of racing is danger. Not so much risk that someone gets injured but a sense that one wrong move or mishap could create an edge for one driver and the end of the day for another. That’s drama and that’s what fans want. The majority of tracks do not offer such excitement. Most of the tracks offer single line racing with the superior car slowly picking off cars one by one; no three wide racing…just safe racing usually dominated by the 12-15 elite teams.

(2) REVENUE SHARING WILL CREATE PARITY: Let’s spread the wealth a bit to ensure the future of this sport. Television revenue should be disbursed accordingly to the weaker teams and down to the stronger teams. With more cash, the little guy could afford the technology necessary in gaining an edge in racing. Hendrick, Roush and the other SuperTeams need some competition or fans WILL become bored with the same drivers winning.

(3) CAUTION FREE RACING=CARS TAKING HUGE LEADS=BORING RACE: The elite teams are so superior today that these cars are establishing big leads early in the race thus leaving the bottom tier teams a lap down, in some cases, 25 laps into the race. This, coupled with the drivers “playing it safe” for the first three quarters of the race has made viewers impatient with the broadcast and reaching for the remote. I’ve been to three races in New Hampshire and can vouch that about forty percent of the fans are out of their seats and searching for souvenirs or food(or beer) after about 20 laps. Of course, most are back watching for the last 20 laps but I cannot say as much for the television viewer…the race is probably forgotten about at this point.

(4) TOO MANY COMMERCIALS DURING TELEVISION BROADCASTS: Isn’t racing one big commercial? Just look at the cars, the driver’s and pit crew’s uniforms…heck, the scroll at the top of your screen has a sponsor changing on screen every 10 minutes. Too many commercials=lack of interest. A better way, if all the commercials are necessary for ESPN, ABC, FOX etc. to break even, why not have a split screen with the race broadcast continuously? In any case, the networks have to bring the race back to the fans and not show themselves as some greedy money machine.

(5) MORE FOCUS ON THE LOWER TIER DRIVERS DURING BROADCASTS: Every driver in racing is important. Even if the chances of winning are slim for some, every driver WANTS to win and improve every week. One driver that has a season under his(or her) belt is a year of experience and growth mentally and technologically for the the driver and team. We, as race fans, need to see a part of each racer and their strategies(and pit stops) throughout a race. Watching Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the majority of the broadcast does not allow the fan to fully appreciate the drama that is racing. I’d like to know how fast Kyle Petty is going, how many laps Bobby Labonte is down, if Mark Martin’s car is running well or having problems.

I feel that the networks see a lot of these drivers as background scenery, to use a movie analogy. By leaving these drivers in the dust and focusing only on drivers with a high Q rating, the networks are only reinforcing the fact that the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit is dominated and ran by the elite.

Let’s hope that the people of NASCAR do not turn this amazing sport into Formula 1 and alienate a sector of fans…I want to LOVE NASCAR again…not just like it!

I Love NASCAR, what is behind this crazed movement? For those who don’t understand NASCAR’s unprecedented explosion in popularity, they would ask…What is the big deal about NASCAR?… Well…you have to love fast cars…and who doesn’t love fast cars? Once you have become infected with the fast-car bug, you have to see a race, and not just on television. Attending a NASCAR race is a total-body sports’ fan experience. Engines roaring! Cars zooming! Adrenaline pumping!

There is a huge thrill in trying to pick out your favorite driver as the field of cars zoom past your range of sight at 180mph! NASCAR racing is also more than just fast cars going around in circles. It is about common folk, getting together as friends and family, and sharing exciting memories…every weekend! …And that is why racing fans all say “I love NASCAR!” And then there is the NASCAR drivers, the most fan-friendly sports stars of any sport!… They take time out of every race, every weekend to talk to fans, sign autographs and take pictures.

The drivers all come to the races with their families in tow, and camp out in trailers…just like the commoners… And that is also why racing fans all say ‘I love NASCAR!’ On the track, drivers have 2 goals..win points and win the race. Like the skillful warriors they are, they defend their positions and play every advantage that presents itself. NASCAR drivers’ ability to use the draft from cars in front of him to gain more speed takes great skill and feeling. In races where it is difficult to pass, drivers will attempt to cause the car in front of him to “get loose” by positioning himself so close to that car that he “steals the air”, causing that car to wobble and allowing him to pass.

These kinds of skills are almost beyond comprehension! In the pit area, crews are constantly working and moving, preparing for the next pit stop. During each pit stop every person has his place and job to do. If they work together well, their performance will have serviced the car, filled the tank with gas and changed tires in 14 remarkable seconds or less. The crew chief and technicians determine precise calculations throughout the race to determine if fuel mileage will be a factor in winning… This is why racing fans all say ‘I love NASCAR!’

The NASCAR recipe is one that no other spectator sport matches. Weekly, the top teams (drivers) are competing directly against each other. Unlike, for instance the NBA, where you may have to wait weeks for that big contest, at a NASCAR race, you can follow number 1 battling number 2 every week. It’s almost like having the Championship of this sport each and every week. There’s simply nothing like the excitement of a live NASCAR race. The sights, earth shattering sounds and gritty smell of burned rubber and gasoline will leave a strong and lasting impression on even the most casual sports fan… and for most saying ‘I love NASCAR!’
